8 Summer Vibes in Kyoto Japan

May 1, 2024 by WISATA JEPANG

Summer in Kyoto, Japan, is a vibrant season filled with unique experiences and cultural festivities. Remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen during your summer explorations in Kyoto, as temperatures can get quite high. With its blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty, Kyoto offers a truly memorable summer experience.

8 Summer vibes Kyoto Japan

Summer in Kyoto offers a mix of traditional charm and modern excitement. Here are some recommendations to experience the summer vibes in Kyoto:

1. Gion Matsuri Festival

This iconic festival held in July is one of Japan’s most famous. It features massive floats, called “yamaboko,” paraded through the streets of Kyoto. The festival’s energy and traditional atmosphere are truly captivating.

2. Kamogawa River

Take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Kamogawa River. You can relax on the riverbanks, enjoy a picnic, or indulge in some delicious street food from nearby stalls. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and soak in the summer atmosphere.

3. Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

Escape the heat by visiting the serene Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. The tall bamboo stalks create a mesmerizing atmosphere, and the cool shade offers a refreshing break from the summer sun. Don’t miss the nearby Tenryu-ji Temple and the picturesque Togetsukyo Bridge.

4. Fushimi Inari Taisha

Beat the crowds by visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The thousands of vibrant red torii gates winding through the forest make for a magical summer stroll. The forest canopy provides relief from the heat, making it a pleasant summer destination.

5. Nijo Castle

Explore the beautiful gardens and historical architecture of Nijo Castle. While Kyoto can get crowded during the summer months, Nijo Castle offers a peaceful retreat where you can immerse yourself in Japan’s rich history and culture.

6. Kyoto International Manga Museum

Cool off indoors at the Kyoto International Manga Museum. With a vast collection of manga spanning various genres and eras, it’s a paradise for manga enthusiasts. You can also participate in workshops and events held throughout the summer.

7. Kyoto Imperial Palace Park

Take a leisurely stroll through the expansive grounds of the Kyoto Imperial Palace Park. Admire the lush gardens, tranquil ponds, and historic buildings. It’s a great place to enjoy a summer picnic or simply relax under the shade of the trees.

8. Yukata Experience

Embrace the summer tradition by renting a yukata, a lightweight kimono worn during the warmer months. Many shops in Kyoto offer yukata rental services, allowing you to dress up in traditional attire and experience the essence of Japanese summer culture.

These recommendations should help you make the most of your summer visit to Kyoto, blending traditional charm with modern attractions to create unforgettable memories.

Good evening,

My family and I are very pleased with our experience. There were several highly recommended places, all of which were wonderful.

The driver, Akira-san, and especially Mr. Kim, were exceptionally kind and thoughtful. Even though we couldn’t speak Japanese, they were very caring. To our surprise, Mr. Kim could speak Korean, which I can as well, so communication was seamless.

The driver provided many recommendations, even when the weather was unpredictable. We had so much fun throughout this trip. There was a particularly bad snowstorm on our way to Noboribetsu, but it turned into an unforgettable memory.

Thank you for the excellent preparation and for responding quickly to questions, such as regarding luggage arrangements.

In the future, if we explore another area of Japan, we will definitely come back.

Thank you! 😊

Thank you! 😊

Angel Stephanie

The Ritz – Carlton Tokyo

This five-star hotel occupies the top nine floors of the second tallest building in Tokyo, and its windows align you with the second tallest structure in Tokyo, the Tokyo Tower. The hotel offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, providing guests with a spectacular and unique perspective of both the cityscape and the iconic mountain. Enjoy the luxury of being at eye level with Tokyo’s impressive skyline and the renowned Tokyo Tower, making your stay a truly memorable experience.

Furthermore, the hotel features seven diverse restaurants and bars. The guest rooms are designed as a blend of Eastern and Western styles, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. Guests can indulge in a wide range of culinary options, from authentic local dishes to luxurious international cuisine. The fusion of design and gastronomy provides a rich and satisfying staying experience, catering to the preferences of guests from around the world.

Park Hyatt Tokyo

Hotel enthusiasts are captivated by the grandeur of Park Hyatt Tokyo, as it stands out as one of the most exclusive and influential establishments in the industry. Located in the Shinjuku district and spanning from the 39th to the 52nd floor of a glass-clad skyscraper, the hotel quickly establishes a comfortable ambiance with soft lighting and beautiful interiors. Additionally, it boasts a renowned spa and offers 177 rooms and suites, further enhancing the allure of this prestigious accommodation.

Aman Tokyo

Situated atop the upper levels of the Otemachi Tower in Chiyoda, this hotel is truly breathtaking. Aman has become a symbol of sharp Zen-like tranquility. Aman destinations typically emphasize nature and cultural heritage. The lobby area continues to captivate attention, featuring high ceilings, abstract flowers, and musicians in kimonos playing the koto strings. The bedrooms consistently exude a meditative space, with the scent of hinoki wood and sliding screens, creating a serene and calming atmosphere.

Featuring four restaurants, including the intimate Musashi Sushi and the Sashimi Omakase, the dining experience here is impeccable. The food and service are flawless, as is the spa, which steals the spotlight. A sanctuary of complete sensory purity floats undisturbed above the bustling city. The latest treatments range from Shinto purification rituals to Iaido sword training. However, simply being here is a form of therapy in itself.

Shangri La Tokyo

The hotel is conveniently located near Tokyo Station. The Horizon Club offers facilities for breakfast, canapes, and a comfortable space to relax and work. Additionally, Nadaman is a renowned venue for various cuisines ranging from sushi to teppanyaki. Shangri-La’s services have won awards for the quickest check-in, passport verification, and soon after, you find yourself in your spacious room.

The Tokyo Edition Toranomon

The reception on the 31st floor is lush with over 500 trees and plants, where staff in monochrome uniforms designed by Freddie Leiba move in and out. The hotel boasts 206 rooms with beautiful views, featuring The Jode Room and Garden Terrace by Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens. These spaces offer exceptional views of the Tokyo Tower reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower.

A white marble bar atop emerald-colored stools, window seats adorned with sheer curtains – perfect for engaging in conversation while sipping intoxicating Ampo Sours, and ocean-colored sofas complementing the modern dishes from The Blue Room restaurant. The rooms are adorned with golden art, natural stone partitions, and extraordinary sky views. The hotel is complete with a spa providing comfort and serenity, an elegant swimming pool, and a 24-hour gym facility.

Mandarin Oriental Tokyo

This hotel is divided into two sections: the modern tower and the Mitsui Main Building. It features 57 retro-futuristic rooms and 22 suites, along with 10 impressive restaurants and bars, and a spa.

The hotel also offers a new experience for guests, from riding a rickshaw to enjoying Geisha performances, culinary tours, and even cruises.

Hoshinoya Tokyo

The fusion of a traditional ryokan inn with a semi-five-star hotel will provide you with an unforgettable experience. With 17 floors, each housing only six rooms, every floor feels like a mini ryokan on its own, centered around a tea room where candies and snacks are always available. This creates an opportunity for guests to interact in a serene environment. The large windows can be covered with shoji paper screens, and when opened, they filter patterned light through metal frames featuring Edo Komon motifs on the facade.

The Tokyo Station Hotel

The hotel was established in 1915 and underwent renovations in 2012, offering 150 rooms and suites. It provides a glimpse into the brief period when pre-war Tokyo architecture leaned towards Western and Edwardian influences. This makes the hotel quite majestic amidst a city filled with modern skyscrapers from the future.

The Capitol Hotel Tokyo

The district is entirely associated with politics, with the hotel serving as the residence for the prime minister and other VIPs. The hotel’s 251 guest rooms and 13 suites each embrace a minimalist and tidy Japanese aesthetic. The Premier King room, spanning over 680 square feet, exudes subtle elegance with light wood surroundings and glowing washi paper lanterns around the bed.

The Origami restaurant and bakery in the lobby are open all day and are especially renowned for lunch: offering an international mix of curries, soups, and sandwiches.
