3. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Chitose – Biei – Asahikawa

In the afternoon, you and your family will arrive at New Chitose Airport, where our Private Tour Hokkaido team from Wisata Jepang will be waiting to warmly welcome you right at the arrival gate.

From there, your winter adventure begins.

Our team will escort you on a scenic drive to Biei, a charming countryside town known for its breathtaking snowy landscapes and peaceful atmosphere. After enjoying the serene beauty of Biei, you’ll continue your journey and settle in for the night in Asahikawa, one of Hokkaido’s most beloved cities.

Get ready for a smooth and memorable start to your Hokkaido winter experience!

Accomodation: Asahikawa Grand Hotel/ Similar

Day 2 Biei – Asahikawa

In the morning, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, your day will begin with a scenic journey to some of Hokkaido’s most picturesque photography spots.

You’ll be taken to several locations where winter transforms the landscape into a breathtaking snowy wonderland—Biei, in particular, becomes a dreamlike canvas of white during this season, offering stunning photo opportunities at every turn.

You’ll also visit Farm Tomita and Shikisai Hill. While these spots are famous in summer for their vibrant lavender and phlox flower fields, in winter, they reveal a completely different charm—serene, snow-covered panoramas that feel like scenes from a postcard.

By late afternoon, after your photography adventure, you’ll return to the Asahikawa area to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner before heading back to your hotel to rest for the night.

A perfect day of snowy beauty and quiet moments captured through your lens.

Accomodation: Asahikawa Grand Hotel/ Similar

Meals: Breakfast, X, X

Day 3 Asahikawa – Lake Saroma – Abashiri

After breakfast, your journey continues as we take you from Asahikawa to the beautiful and tranquil Lake Saroma.

Lake Saroma is one of Hokkaido’s most stunning lakes, especially in winter, its vast, icy expanse set against the backdrop of snow-covered hills creates a scene that’s both dramatic and serene.

If you’re lucky, you may even catch a rare glimpse of wild Hokkaido wolves roaming near the lake, an unforgettable sight for wildlife and photography enthusiasts alike.

After spending time capturing the beauty of Lake Saroma from various photography spots, we’ll continue the journey toward the Abashiri area, where more winter wonders await.

Upon arrival in the Abashiri area, you’ll have the option to enjoy a warm and satisfying dinner, either at a local restaurant or served in the comfort of your ryokan or hotel, often featuring fresh local seafood and seasonal Hokkaido delicacies.

After a full day of exploring and photography, we highly recommend indulging in one of Japan’s most relaxing traditions: a soak in a hot spring bath (onsen). The soothing warm waters are perfect for easing away fatigue, especially after a day spent in the cold winter air.

It’s the ideal way to unwind and rejuvenate, body and mind, before continuing your Hokkaido adventure.

Accomodation: Dormy Inn Kitami Natural Hot Spring/ Similar

Day 4 Abashiri – Koshimizu – Lake Kussharo

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we’ll check out and continue your journey to the next destination.

Our first stop of the day is Koshimizu, a scenic area still within the Abashiri Quasi-National Park, and recognized as one of the important natural sites in Hokkaido.

Koshimizu is known for its gently sloping hills and low mountain ridges that lie close to the coastline, offering a unique blend of sea and snow-covered landscapes, perfect for capturing beautiful winter photos with a tranquil, coastal atmosphere.

From Koshimizu, we’ll head toward the spectacular Lake Kussharo, one of the caldera lakes in eastern Hokkaido. The area is known for its surreal winter scenery, mist rising from the lake, and the possibility of spotting swans gliding across the icy water. It’s a favorite among photographers and nature lovers alike.

As evening approaches, we’ll make our way to Obihiro, where you’ll check in and rest for the night—ready for more adventures tomorrow.

Day 5 Obihiro – Shimukappu Area

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off toward the beautiful Shimukappu area.

Upon arriving in Sapporo, you’ll have time to rest or enjoy a bit of shopping at Sapporo Factory, a popular complex with shops, cafés, and local products—perfect for picking up souvenirs or simply relaxing.

For dinner, we’ll take you to one of our recommended restaurants—perhaps a hearty bowl of Hokkaido-style ramen, or something with a bit of Southeast Asian flavor, like Ramai Restaurant, known for its rich, spiced broth that might just cure your homesickness for Indonesian or Malaysian cuisine.

Tonight, you’ll stay at a comfortable hotel conveniently located near Sapporo Odori Park, placing you right in the heart of the city and close to many attractions for the next day.

Accomodation: Tokyu Stay Sapporo Odori/ Similar

Day 6 Moerenuma – Otaru – Kiroro Snow Resort

After breakfast, we’ll check out from the hotel and begin the day with a short Sapporo City Tour.

One of the highlights we’ll visit is Moerenuma Park—a unique park designed by renowned artist Isamu Noguchi. In winter, it transforms into a family-friendly snow playground where you can enjoy snow sledding, beginner snowboarding, and skiing on gentle, easily accessible slopes. It’s a great spot for some light winter fun and photography.

Around midday, we’ll head to the charming town of Otaru for lunch. Known for its beautifully preserved canal area, once a bustling port during Japan’s Meiji era, Otaru offers a nostalgic atmosphere with old warehouses now turned into cafés, glass shops, and local eateries. It’s a perfect blend of history and scenery.

After lunch, we’ll continue to Kiroro Snow Resort, one of Hokkaido’s top winter destinations. Located just a short drive from Otaru, Kiroro offers a full winter sports experience—from skiing and snowboarding to snow play activities for all ages. Whether you’re a beginner or an enthusiast, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the snow to your heart’s content.

Once the day winds down and everyone’s had their fill of snow adventure, we’ll head to the peaceful Abuta District, where you’ll check in and rest for the night—surrounded by the quiet beauty of Hokkaido’s winter landscape.

Day 7 Lake Toya – Lake Onuma – Hokuto

As always, you’ll start the day with a warm breakfast, perfect for preparing yourself to face the crisp winter air ahead.

After checking out from the hotel, we’ll continue our journey with a visit to one of the most breathtaking lakes in all of Hokkaido—Lake Toya. Surrounded by volcanic mountains and often enveloped in mist during winter, Lake Toya offers a peaceful and dramatic landscape, ideal for photography lovers.

Lake Toya

For lunch, we’ll take a break at a cozy restaurant near the lake, where you can enjoy a hot meal while still soaking in the scenic views.

From Lake Toya, we’ll head to another natural gem—Lake Onuma, part of Onuma Quasi-National Park. With its small islands and snow-dusted forests, this lake offers a fairytale-like setting, especially during the golden hours of the afternoon—perfect for capturing unforgettable winter shots.

Before dinner, we’ll make a quick stop in Hokuto, a small town nearby that also has hidden photography spots, often overlooked but beautifully authentic.

Finally, we’ll head to Hakodate, where you’ll enjoy dinner and check in at a hotel conveniently located near Lake Onuma, allowing for a peaceful night’s rest surrounded by nature.

Day 8 Hakodate – Hokuto – Muroran

In the morning, after enjoying breakfast, we’ll check out from the hotel as usual.

Then, we’ll spend some more time exploring and hunting for beautiful photography spots around Hokuto, capturing the unique winter scenery one last time in this charming area.

For lunch, we’ll stop in the Hakodate area, where you can savor local flavors and recharge for the afternoon.

After lunch, our journey continues as we head to Muroran, a coastal city known for its rugged landscapes and warm hospitality.

In the evening, you’ll enjoy dinner and a restful night in the Muroran area. This is also a great opportunity to shop for a variety of Hokkaido souvenirs and local specialties—perfect mementos to bring back home or gifts for loved ones.
