Day 1 Chitose, Noboribetsu Onsen, Lake Toya

Noboribetsu Summer

Our guide will be waiting in the lobby of your hotel at 9:00 AM to begin the tour. If you are arriving at New Chitose Airport, pick-up can be arranged based on your landing time—please confirm your hotel or arrival details in advance.

Our first stop is a newly renovated museum and outdoor village that showcases the traditional lifestyle of the Ainu, Hokkaido’s indigenous people, before modern development. Enjoy daily cultural performances, participate in Ainu craft workshops, browse souvenir stalls, and relax at the on-site café.

For lunch, you can choose from a market-style restaurant offering seafood straight from live tanks or a wide menu selection. Alternatively, you may prefer our recommended farm restaurant specializing in premium Shiraoi wagyu beef—please let us know your preference in advance.

Estimated driving time to Noboribetsu: approximately 30 minutes.

Once in Noboribetsu, we’ll explore its famous geothermal spots either by car or on foot, including the dramatic 450-meter-long Hell Valley, the vast Oyunuma hot spring lake, its flowing river and waterfalls, and even a foot bath hidden deep in the forest.

As we continue, enjoy panoramic views of Hokkaido’s central mountain range, including the iconic Mt. Yotei, also known as the “Fuji of the North.”

Estimated driving time to Lake Toya: approximately 1 hour.

Lake Toya, one of the deepest lakes in Hokkaido, is our next stop. We’ll do our best to reserve lake-view rooms so you can enjoy the nightly fireworks show, which begins at 8:45 PM.

Day 2 Lake Toya

Lake Toya

After breakfast, we depart in the morning for Sobetsu Fruit Village, where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat fruit picking at a charming orchard located at the foot of Mt. Usu, an active volcano.

Next, take the ropeway up Mt. Usu and enjoy a walk along the crater rim of Hokkaido’s most active volcano. You’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Mt. Yotei, Mt. Showa-Shinzan, Lake Toya, and the Pacific Ocean. Extended hiking options are also available for those who wish to explore further.

For lunch near Lake Toya, we recommend Wakasaimo, a restaurant known for its lake views and high-quality Japanese cuisine.

After lunch, enjoy a relaxing ferry ride across the calm waters of Lake Toya, Hokkaido’s deepest caldera lake. Disembark at Nakajima Island for a refreshing nature walk and a chance to experience the island’s peaceful scenery.

Continue your journey with visits to Lake Hill Farm, Silo Observatory, and Michi no Eki. Enjoy delicious handmade gelato with beautiful rural views at Lake Hill Farm, take in the panoramic scenery of the Lake Toya caldera from the Silo Observatory, and browse for local produce and souvenirs at Michi no Eki.

After checking out from the hotel, we begin our scenic drive to Furano, a beautiful town at the heart of Hokkaido, known for its flower fields and rolling countryside. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, passing through picturesque rural landscapes.

Our first stop is the world-renowned Farm Tomita, the most iconic flower field in Hokkaido. The farm also offers a variety of ice cream stands and local food stalls, making it a delightful sensory experience.

For lunch, you can choose from a selection of farm-fresh restaurants in the area. One standout option is Asperges, a Michelin-starred French restaurant in Biei that uses the finest local ingredients (advance reservation is required).

Next, we visit Shikisai no Oka, a vast and colorful flower garden that stretches across the hills of Biei. You can enjoy a fun ride on a tractor or buggy, and even visit the mini alpaca farm to meet these adorable animals up close.

From there, we head to the breathtaking Blue Pond, one of Hokkaido’s most popular photo spots, known for its surreal, milky-blue waters. Not far away, the Shirahige Falls cascade into the same blue-toned Biei River, creating a magical atmosphere.

We continue our journey along the Tokachidake Scenic Driving Road, a winding route through the southern part of Daisetsuzan National Park. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for Hokkaido red foxes, and take a walk on the hardened lava fields from past volcanic eruptions. For the adventurous, there’s a chance to soak in a wild hot spring at Fukiage Onsen—a natural, mixed-gender bath where swimsuits are allowed (note: no changing rooms are available). The views here are absolutely stunning.

For dinner, you can choose from several excellent local eateries. A great choice is Kumagera, a cozy and atmospheric izakaya known for its delicious nabe and shabu-shabu. For the more daring, they even offer bear meat as part of the menu.

Before ending the day, we’ll stop by Ningle Terrace, a charming artisan village made up of log cabins nestled in the forest. Here, you can browse handmade crafts and buy unique items directly from the artists.

Alternatively, you can visit the charming Ikeda Wine Castle, a local winery modeled after a European chateau. Stroll through its cellars, learn about the wine-making process, and sample some of the region’s best vintages.

Next, we head to the delightful Fujita Dairy Farm, where you’ll get a hands-on look at the world of dairy farming. Learn about the life of dairy cows, try your hand at milking, and reward yourself afterward with freshly made ice creamstraight from the farm—creamy, rich, and unforgettable.

Our journey continues to Obihiro, a city in the heart of Tokachi known for its thriving pig farms. It’s the perfect place to try butadon—a hearty bowl of rice topped with tender, flavorful braised pork that’s beloved across Hokkaido.

Then, satisfy your sweet tooth at Ryugetsu Sweetpia Garden, a well-known dessert factory where you can watch the production line in action, sample signature confections, and shop for beautifully packaged treats to take home.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore the remarkable Tokachi Millennium Forest, a harmonious blend of art, nature, and sustainability. Good evening,

My family and I are very pleased with our experience. There were several highly recommended places, all of which were wonderful.

The driver, Akira-san, and especially Mr. Kim, were exceptionally kind and thoughtful. Even though we couldn’t speak Japanese, they were very caring. To our surprise, Mr. Kim could speak Korean, which I can as well, so communication was seamless.

The driver provided many recommendations, even when the weather was unpredictable. We had so much fun throughout this trip. There was a particularly bad snowstorm on our way to Noboribetsu, but it turned into an unforgettable memory.

Thank you for the excellent preparation and for responding quickly to questions, such as regarding luggage arrangements.

In the future, if we explore another area of Japan, we will definitely come back.

Thank you! 😊

Angel Stephanie
